How did you meet?
We
all grew up in the same area of suburban England, it's pretty gnar.
Then one beautiful day, I was having a piano lesson; just working on
some jazz (you know how it is), and my piano teacher suggested I speak
with the new kid Frank Wright. He played the ol' bass guitar and we
played some covers with my friend Harris from down the road. That
evolved into former projects.
Is this your first band or have you had other projects?
We
used to play just me (Ben) and drummer Harris because we lived right
next to each other. We played tonnes of two-man muse covers with
extended guitar solos in his grandmother's annex, formally named 'Me n
'arris'. Then one day we realised we were horrible, and needed a new
member. Lil Frankie boy Jr. joined in and we won the sick ass school
talent competition, developing a large fan base of young girls, after
Frankie's good looks. Frank makes some mysterious music under numerous
pseudonyms, so get ready for sick head DJ SETS FROM WHYT LYTNYNG.
What things inspire you to make music?
Hearing
stuff that we think sounds pretty. On the other hand, horrible goblin
music so we are encouraged to improve on goblin-pop.
A few months ago NME Radar talked about you. How important was that?
Yeah
it was pretty cool. Harris is a big fan of the nme and buys it most
weeks, so he was pretty happy. We all bought it in the morning before
school to see what it said. We were next to Wild Swim as well and that
was cool. We're really big fans of theirs.
If you could produce a soundtrack to a TV series what series do you choose? (you can say a movie too)
Probably The Dark Knight Rises, but I'm not really Hans Zimmer. Harris is a big scrubs fan so he'd probably wanna do that.
Do you know any portuguese musician on band?
Sorry, but no. Football on the other hand...
Are you working on new songs?
Yeah a little bit. There probably won't be anything new released for a little while though. We're going into hibernation.
Can you choose a song that describes BLAENAVON?
By
us then it would probably be Gods. It's got all the calmness in the
beginning and then the massive shred at the end. It sounds like what we
want to sound like, like a hymn.
However, if it's any song by anyone then probably ALL CAPS by Madvillain.
